When was Harpoon Gaming founded?

Harpoon Gaming was founded on August 15, 2012. Harpoon's first server originated as an MvM server because of issues with Valve's official servers at the time. There weren't enough servers so we created one so even more people could play.

Shortly after, Eoj Charlie left TF2-Trader and changed the server to an All-Trade. With assistance from LJ Gibbs and Skipper, they created a strong All-Trade community focused on improving player experience. Over the years Harpoon has evolved and changed, while still headed by Eoj Charlie, with Co-Owners Skipper and Bottswana, there's even more servers and a lot more staff.

Why was the name "Harpoon Gaming" chosen?

Harpoon Gaming is focused on protecting players from scammers, sharks (Users who target and exploit younger players), and malicious users. One of our main goals is to protect newer traders from sharks and to symbolize that, we chose the name harpoon.

To see the full list of current staff of Harpoon Gaming, you can head over to the staff list. You may see that they have a biography under their name, you can learn more about each staff member individually by reading it.

What is Harpoon Gaming?

Harpoon Gaming is a Team Fortress 2 and Garry's Mod community. We were founded on the idea that no matter who you are, you have a home here. Too often we see communities rife with bullies and trolls, and Harpoon was created because we think we can do better than that.

We have numerous of servers in all across Team Fortress 2, L4D2, and Garry's Mod. See our full server list to join. We try our best to provide a fun and safe environment for you to enjoy playing and hanging around. We strive to protect our members from scammers, sharks, and other users who mislead others.

We're partnered with SteamRep and Rep.tf, two great resources on preventing fraud and protecting yourself from unwarranted scams.

I just got banned on one of your servers, may I get unbanned?

If you have been banned from one of our servers, you may appeal. Anyone has the right to appeal if you have received a ban, certain bans may be permanent and you may not be able to appeal on rare occasions.

How do I find more information about my ban?

To find out why you got banned, you can head over to our SourceBans page. Over there, you can view bans including your own ban with the reason and time length included. If you have been banned from our TTT server, you have to contact the TTT staff directly or join back the server to see the reason.

Someone is causing issues within the server and there isn't any admins online. What do I do?

You can use our !calladmin plugin which alerts staff members even when they may not be in-game. You can also submit a server report on the forums containing the evidence and it will be reviewed by our staff.

Someone just disconnected without paying me after a wagered spycrab or heavy box, I would like to report this user.

If you believe that someone has just left the server without paying after a wagered spycrab or heavy box, you can report the user over here. Make sure to provide as much evidence as possible. Gather your evidence of the scam, including screenshots of chats and inventory history.

I just got scammed but it was outside of your servers, can I still report on your forums?

Yes, if you have been scammed outside of our servers, you can still report on our forums. However, we cannot mark the accused if scams involving trades occurring entirely outside of Steam trading has happened. Although we may not issue a ban on SteamRep, we can still accept these reports and we may issue a server ban. For more information, read this thread on SteamRep.

I was told to visit the forums and mumble but i'm not quite sure what mumble is and how to get started.

To get started, you can check out this guide over here. This will show you our mumble information and how to get mumble. Mumble is a voice chat application for groups which is similar to programs like Ventrilo or TeamSpeak.

I have posted in someone else's thread but I keep getting alerts whenever someone else posts in it, how can I stop this?

Whenever you create a thread and someone posts in it or if you have posted in someone else's thread, it will automatically be marked as "Watched." To stop receiving alerts, go to the top right hand corner of the forum and select "unwatch thread."

I do not like what another user has posted, I think it can be disrespecting others and myself. What can I do?

If you believe that someone has posted something inappropriate on our forums, you can use the report feature. On the thread/post, there is a report button. When reporting someone, please make sure to clearly state your reason.

I am banned on SteamRep or have been marked as caution, where can I appeal?

If you have been banned on SteamRep by Harpoon Gaming, you may appeal. Anyone has the right to appeal if you have received a ban or caution tag. If you would like to appeal your Harpoon Gaming banned or caution tag on SteamRep, you may file an appeal over here.
