    School here in Ireland is a bit different.
    We learn "Business Studies", so the whole "raising a kid costs" and "taxes" and "mortgage" and "stocks" thing is covered nicely.
    Also we have C.S.P.E. (Civic Social & Political Education) so human rights etc. are covered, too.

    But I totally agree with the rest
