Opinion needed from admins and mods

    So my name on Steam is State From Jake Farm, and people are naming themselves Jake From State Farm, State From Farm Jake (etc.) People are starting to get a bit pissed off at this. What do you admins believe should happen about this? Is this not allowed or just frowned upon? Because when people say (KOS Jake) they kos the wrong jake and false reporting happens and you can see what this leads to.

    Personally, this could happen with any popular name, not just Jake from State Farm or anything like that. If people are getting angry because your Steam name is too common, that's their problem. Not something you should have to change your name over, but if you feel that you'd rather change your name than constantly have people nagging you to change it, it's your decision. But my opinion, you shouldn't have to. But that's just me.

    To tell you the truth. I find it very annoying. They rename themselves and us staff have to put up with more reports and more things. I do not like banning/kicking/nor slaying anyone because of this cause, but I end up having to. I highly recommend that this does not happen. I do not like players cursing each other out just because another player wants to look cute just because they change their name to something identical to someone else.

    I Honestly find it really annoying. KOS Jake and then we have to ask, "WHAT JAKE FROM THE 20000 OF THEM?" Also as admins it is harder to target them for slays or kicks or bans because of all them! So yes, I honestly would rather not have it happen

    There's two different perspectives on this. A and B.
    A is a normal person's point of view. Your name is State from Jake Farm, that's kind of annoying when there's someone else with the name Jake from State Farm. You call KoS on that person and it's mistaken for you. You get killed and that's pretty much the end of it.
    B is from an Admin's point of view. Someone named Jake from State Farm just RDMed and now you need to enforce server rules. You go to enable a punishment and... More then one person has a similar name. UUUGH! Now I, the Admin, have to type it out again but this time using the full name.
    It's really nothing more then a slight inconvenience to admins because one way or the other, the person gets their punishment. But really it just makes everyone's life easier if you have a name unique to yourself. Without unicode though because unicode is a pain in the ass.

    From a non staff point of view, it's just gonna get you rdm'd and etc more often.

    I don't think you should have changed your name necessarily. But we will be enforcing rules and punishments against those that change their name in TTT to specifically cause issues and confusion.

    As from an admin point of you, I would like to make you and anyone aware of an important fact. If all of your names are variants of Jake from State Farm and we typed in !kick Jake "Repeated RDM", it would kick every single one of you, because you all have Jake in your name. So be mindful of that, staff sometimes make that reasonable mistake and deal out multiple punishments accidentally. I've done it also, it's just a difficult situation, especially with short names. (For example, Thu, a staff member, also appears in SilentTHUnter382, 10K, appears in diamondfrost10k. So less common names just assist us in our jobs of helping the server.)
