I used to play TF2 a lot back when I was in high school but I've stopped playing for years now. The issue for me is that my connection is really slow to download the updates and they're frequent. Also, for some stupid reason, I used to get 1gb updates even when everybody else got 100mb updates. It was weird. I've been wanting to get back into TF2 for a long while now, but I'm wondering how frequent the updates are nowadays. I don't want to spend more time updating than playing, considering I also am only able to play TF2 during midnight...
If you take long breaks from TF2,i it obvious that the size of your update(s) will be larger since you've missed quite a few. Regarding the amount of updates, they are not that frequent as in the past, they tend to add loads of stuff in 1 single update nowadays which can take anything from 1 week to months, apart from the small errors/glitch fixes which are very rare as well.
That was the thing, back then I didn't take long breaks, so it was odd for me to see the 1gb updates and ask my friends and get told the updates were only 100mbs for them and such. I never really understood why that happened but I think Steam just hates me when it comes to downloading at all, always have issues. Updates being less frequent might be good for me, then, since I will spend more time playing than updating, haha. Really gotta get back to the game.
We know that we're going to get new updates with new maps, because the beta maps aint going to be beta forever.
