Well guys, I'm thinking of recording in the future. Probably streaming. Which software do you recommend for recording? Thanks in advance
I could probably get you an xsplit subscription if you're interested in using Xsplit. Otherwise, OBS is a fine free solution, albeit a bit buggy since it's not made by an actual company. If you are solely interested in recording, or you need some advanced setup for your streaming solution, you can use both OBS and Xsplit in conjunction with Dxtory's RAW output. I've never used this setup, but according to many people this can lead to some great performance increases over just letting the broadcasting software run the screen through compression. EDIT: Recording with Dxtory requires a lot of setting up, but once you do that, you can get a lot of features you wouldn't get in other recording software, such as seperate audio channels and different codecs.
Oh God, no to Fraps and Bandicam. OBS all the way. Free and great, we use it to stream on HG's Twitch.
Whenever i've recorded with OBS and playback the video, the video is slow or buggy like it has a low framerate even though while recording the video the framerate is just fine.
Try changing your bitrate settings around; I believe variable bitrate is more desirable for recording video, while a constant bitrate is preferred when streaming (Twitch actually requires it, or they reduce your quality).
GeForce Experience is perfect when I use it, and it also have a steaming option and a 20 min play back so if you want to record something cool you did 5 min ago you can still record that. http://www.geforce.com/geforce-experience/download
Thanks for the replies! Also yes, I do agree about Fraps. Fraps only records like 30 seconds anyway on the free version but it's recording is much smoother than bandicam. I will also check out all the suggestions! Thanks guys!
This is where Dxtory comes in handy. Or OP must be interested in buying a second computer and split HDMI to it for recording.
True, but I always used Fraps because it was much smoother than Bandicam. I tried using OBS before, but I need to learn a little bit more about it in order to record easily.
Fraps is alright for recording. OBS can record and stream though which is pretty convenient. If you really want a good recording and streaming software try to get a subscription for Xsplit. Luckily for me since I am a partner with the Youtube Network Freedom! I am able to get a free subscription since they are sponsored by Xsplit.
