Hi, I need help with my computer because I have no idea about anything when it comes to tech. My computer was running TF2 and mumble fine for the most part, with perhaps a little lag, but nothing else. So, I upgraded to windows 10 2 or 3 weeks ago. Ever since, my computer has had a ridiculous amount of problems with TF2, such as: I have a much lower rate of fps (especially on scout). I have to reconnect to mumble every 30 minutes or so because it stops working for me. Occasionally when I launch TF2, there is no audio at all. Whenever the server changes maps, I have about a 75% chance of crashing/freezing. The hop command in server doesn't work for me anymore. Whenever I try to trade in game, the trade window doesn't show up, although I can open up the overlay. I can't snipe that's my fault Can't talk in-game anymore (may be a conflict with mumble, idk) I've tried many solutions, such as: Disabling VSync. Verifying the Integrity of Game Cache. Modifying my screen when TF2 launches and using low graphics. Uninstalling McAfee. Disabling the mumble overlay. Restarting my computer (it generally fixes the no audio problem) None of these worked. Any suggestions?
Discussed with Microline in private PM, he advised me to turn off notifications and set the performance plan to high performance (formerly had that, but I switched it because I thought it might have been causing the lag). Will test tomorrow when I have the time. Any other advice will be used as well, since I need any kind of help.
Laptop Manufacturer: Dell Model: Inspiron 5520 Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3210M CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz Installed memory (RAM): 8.00 GB System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor Pen and Touch: No Pen or Touch Input is available for this display I updated a bunch of stuff and I have one update left, but it's the update that was added a day ago. My current driver does support Windows 10. System notifications
Try this: Right click on start menu and open up control panel Search for performance in the top right Click on adjust appearance and performance open advanced tab and click change Uncheck automatic Click the drive system is installed on select custom size set initial and maximum size to the value recommended by windows click set and then restart
Thought about doing that but my parents were the ones who told me to get Windows 10, and I doubt they would uninstall it for me (they have administrator control on my computer).
Under sound, video, and game controllers, I uninstalled and reinstalled Conexant SmartAudio HD. I have Intel(R) Display Audio as well, but I don't know if that is also an audio drive. I now can't join a server without crashing. I looked in the windows logs and this came up: TF2 crash: Faulting application name: hl2.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5632ac10 Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.10240.16430, time stamp: 0x55c599e1 Exception code: 0xc0000374 Fault offset: 0x000d5c0c Faulting process id: 0x2bd0 Faulting application start time: 0x01d11b224ffc5cf5 Faulting application path: C:\Tim\Tim's_Entertainment\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\hl2.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Report Id: aaa36466-6b44-4159-9db7-a5634e8e0278 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: as well as the audio crash: Faulting application name: AUDIODG.EXE, version: 10.0.10240.16384, time stamp: 0x559f3a8d Faulting module name: CX64AP54.dll, version: 4.80.54.0, time stamp: 0x4f05fa1b Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x00000000000f5e4d Faulting process id: 0x263c Faulting application start time: 0x01d11b2254b82d65 Faulting application path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\AUDIODG.EXE Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\system32\CX64AP54.dll Report Id: 9ae86d93-30dc-41aa-ac0e-2e1f4ea693ce Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: Help please.
Did you update any of your drivers recently? Did Windows update recently? Did TF2/Steam update recently? Did you restart after reinstalling the audio driver? Did you get the audio driver straight from your computer manufacturer or the actual company that made the audio driver? Try one of these: 1.) Open command prompt as administrator: sfc /scannow 2.) Reinstall your video drivers(with latest or if the latest is the problem roll back to a previous version) 3.) Reinstall your audio drivers(with latest or if the latest is the problem roll back to a previous version) 4.) Verify game cache of TF2 5.) Reinstall TF2/Steam 6.) Ask in a better forum for such issues or wait and see if someone else knows a solution. 7.) Reinstall OS
I think I saved the audio thing to the wrong folder, I deleted it and restarted my computer, and I can now play again Other problems may persist.
I can join servers from my favorites, but not servers through selecting them or the meramissions. Quickplay works however. I don't get much lag anymore, mainly just mumble and joining server problems now. I updated my drivers a week ago, but many of these problems have persisted for a month. Windows hasn't updated recently aside from my drivers. Steam and TF2 have had updates, but regardless of the updates for the past month, none seem to fix the problem. Yep, restarted. 1) Will try. 2) Updated my graphics driver 1-2 weeks ago. 3) Yesterday 4) Done multiple times, nothing's wrong apparently. 5) I'd really like not to do this 6) Yeah, if I can't find the solution here I'm going to ask on the steam forums 7) This would have to be a last ditch option, and I'm not at that point yet.
