Lately I've been seeing a lot of meta-gaming in the TTT server. I don't know if it's because people don't know what it is or don't think that they will be punished for it? Anyways, meta-gaming is saying "oh, we're on clue and I saw that someone used a poltergeist, so kos snowman or suspicion on snowman". As all of the community should know, meta-gaming is banned on our server and can result in you getting a slay or ban/kick if it gets bad enough. Just thought I should inform all of you guys what it is so that you can avoid breaking the rules. Have a good rest of your day/night/week/month/life!
What are the ways to actually to KOS someone then? Like So if we see someone with a knife, then we can't say they are a traitor? Or KOS them?
Well I could tell you some REASONS to KOS players. = REASONS TO KOS= - If you see a player using a ''T'' wepon, unless they have said they picked it up from a dead T. - A player is standing next to an unidentified body and without identifying it. - If the detective have called a KOS on a player. - If you have seen the player shoot/kill a player. - A Player destroys a Tester or Detective equipment. - T baiting as shooting randomly near players to bait them into killing them, I suggest should be a ''rule'' It could cause rdm to take place. - If you RDM that is also KOS Reasons NOT to KOS - If you see afk player you are not to KOS the player. - If you see a player injured that is also not a reason to kos, without any solid evidence. For any new players - KOS- Kill On Sight. - RDM- Random Death match ( Shooting/killing without any reason) -Propkill- Killing players with props.
What I do is a I use reasons like "T" weapons, Low health, and other things as suspicion of traitor and keep an eye on them. I believe this is how you're supposed to do it. Meta-gaming is when you use outside information to help you in the game, TTT is actually a form of role-play if you think about it. You cannot use outside information to help you. You /are/ a terrorist, a couple of you are traitors, you have to use the information you find out i the game, you can't say "Trashcat is the traitor because he only acts like this when he's the traitor". And it's a big no-no when somebody kills you and you say in an outside source (Skype and Mumble) "Smile is the traitor! He just killed me!"
You cant kill AFKs UNLESS its overtime. No that is fine It just If someone you know uses a c4 a lot and someone sees a c4 and has no way to tell who deployed it and says "KOS Hero" I Hope that cleared up some misunderstanding and confusion (If you have anymore questions ask a staff member like myself or even a regular on the server!) Also I have also been noticing a lot of meta game also. For example I was playing on the map "Rooftops" and if you guys didnt know I love to go to the top if a building via grapple on it and handcannon. So the D was dead and I thought I would do my trick... someone saw the rays the grapple make (note: i was disguised) and said "Last round hero went up there and handcannon so I say KOS on hero". I then explained to him what metagaming is and what he did wrong. AFTER I was killed for the wrong reason. do to this I suggest that If we could put a guide up on what metagaming IS then it could work wonders to stop it.
Reasons to kos people: they killed someone, they blatantly walk by an unid'd body, someone else called a kos on them, they're carrying a traitor only weapon and have not called out that they have it, they start to murder you, they don't respond to a live check or kos, etc Reasons not to kos people: they're afk (besides during overtime, then you can kill afk's), they're acting suspicious, they're annoying, they killed a traitor, they killed an innocent that was RDM'ing people, they destroy the tester or detective equipment, they throw the gold block away on minecraft, they stand still for a little bit, etc. hope this helps!
I was talking in general not just harpoon gaming, they are just general reason to kos, It's different on all the servers due to rules being different everywhere. My mistake for not making it clear
This specifically is saying, you are using outside knowledge to make an assumption. For instance: If someone, like Snowman, always uses the Silent fox every round. Then you hear a silent fox/see one, BUT DO NOT SEE HIM WITH IT. You KoS him just merely based on the fact that he uses the silent fox a lot. That's called meta-gaming. You used outside information (the knowledge Snowman uses silent fox a lot) to make an assumption in the round. If you see someone with a knife, and they didn't call it out, you can still KoS them. We're merely talking about making assumptions based off how people play, is not allowed.
Oh! Ok, Thank you guys for the information. I just haven't played TTT a lot and need to know at least most of the rules.
