Pre-Note : I DO NOT PROMOTE YOU TRYING ANY METHODS TO GET A "GLITCHED" ITEM. THIS THREAD IS ONLY FOR PEOPLE TO FIND OUT HOW PEOPLE WERE ABLE TO GET THESE ITEMS. I DO NOT ADVISE TRYING TO TRICK STEAM SUPPORT IN ANY WAY, BECAUSE IN MOST CASES THEY CAN TELL WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO DO AND IT CAN END UP WITH A SUSPENSION ON YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT. THANK YOU.

I decided to type up a guide on glitched items. Glitched items can be anything from an odd-leveled item, all the way up to Vintage Promos. In this guide you will learn about some of the available glitched items, and hope they came in to existence. Below is the chapters of this guide.

    • 1) Glitched Items - A Brief Description
      2) Glitched items - A Brief History
      3) Vintage Glitched Items
      4) Dirty Glitched Items
      5) Clean Glitched Items
      6) Stock Glitched Items
      7) Odd-Leveled Glitched Items
      8) Limited Time Glitched Items
      9) Special Glitched Items
      10) Tool Glitched Items
      11) Strange Glitched Items
    • Glitched items are typically items that should not be in the game. They are items which (usually, not always) people have cheated to get. In the majority of cases glitched items have been granted by Steam Support. The most common case is Bill's hat where people deleted their Bill's and then requested a new one from Steam Support, which came back as Vintage. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes glitched items can be acquired by TF2 updates, which people are not aware of. Some examples of these is the Festive Bat. You were not supposed to be able to get a Festive Bat from the crates and the majority of these got deleted. The remaining ones are with either some very limited traders or with VALVE employees. Other examples may be the Odd-Leveled Soda Poppers, where at the end of an MvM tour you might be given a soda popper a different level to the normal one. There are many more examples, all of which will be described in chapters 3-11.
    • Glitched items originate almost since trading started. The most globally known item being the Vintage Bill's Hat. To acquire the Vintage Bill's Hat you had to trick Steam Support in to giving you a vintage one. People did this by deleting their original Bill's, and then sending a Support Ticker through saying that it had randomly disappeared or that someone from their family had deleted it as a joke. VALVE got so many complaints about this that eventually they decided to stack up all the complaints and put it in an update, which gave everyone who lost their Bill's hat a replacement. However, something went wrong and everyone ended up getting a Vintage Bill's Hat. It was soon too late for it to be fixed when many of them got traded away. After that many glitched items have appeared on the market, usually out of promos. Some examples of these would be : Vintage Max Head, Vintage Big Kill, Vintage Earbuds, Vintage Lumbricus Lid and many more. In chapters 3-11 you will learn about how each item was acquired.
    • In this chapter you will learn about Vintage glitched items, and how players acquired them.

      Vintage Max Head
[IMG]The Vintage Max Head is the classic case of a glitched item. It is where players deleted their Max Sets and then went to Steam Support about it. When going to Steam Support about it they granted them a new set, with normal ID's. These normal ID's meant that the items were not classed as a promo but just as a normal item. This meant that when the Mann Co. Update hit, the items would be classed as a normal item which is going to turn in to Vintage, rather than a promo which is to stay unique. However, the first Vintage Max Head was not because of this. It was because somebody got a copy of Sam & Max : The Devil's Playhouse and then the game disappeared from their game list. When they launched TF2 they didn't have the promos either so they contacted Steam Support who admitted to their mistake, gave the person the game and they also ended up with a Max Set with normal ID's.
*The Lugermorpth was "rare" being vintage at this point, but was later worthless when Poker Night at the Inventory was released and all Lugermorpths became vintage

      Vintage Big Kill
[IMG]The Vintage Big Kill has the same story as the Vintage Max Head. However, the first Vintage Big Kill was not because of this.

      Vintage Earbuds
[IMG]Vintage Earbuds did not occur straight away. It happened when Earbuds were granted to those who lost them (legitimately or not) but with a normal ID. You might be wondering what a normal ID means. Basically it means that it is classed as a "normal" item so when the Mann Co Update hit, the item also became vintage and was not classed as a "promo". This did not mean anything until the Mann Co. Update when items became vintage. As the ID was technically an ID for a vintage item, the players got the Vintage Earbuds. Some people knew this would happen because they had heard leaks from VALVE employees about vintage items, and how the ID's would change if you deleted your item and got re-reimbursed .

      Vintage Alien Swarm Parasite
[IMG]The Vintage Alien Swarm Parasite is different to other glitched items because it was deliberately given to someone. The person (who still remains un-named) was granted this hat by VALVE. It is believed to be one of the people who made Alien Swarm. The persons account then got hijacked and this hat went in to circulation. It then got duped a lot hence why the value went down. You might be wondering how there is several different levels though. It is suspected this is because VALVE gave this hat to other Alien Swarm developers, whom also got hijacked or actually traded it away themselves. This particular glitched item still has a lot of mystery surrounding it so these are not very specific details.

      Vintage Ghastlierest Gibus
[IMG]Players got the Vintage Gibus by (once again) taking advantage of Steam Support. Some people did get it legitimately, however. It is when you got the achievement to get the Gibus but never actually got the hat. People went to Steam Support and complained about this and ended up with a special ID version of the hat. The hat is well known for being a "nooby" hat so having this vintage one which is worth over 10 buds may make people think twice about you!

      Vintage Gentle Mannes Service Medal
[IMG]The Vintage Service Medal is usually #4858. This is because the person who got the #4858 either lost it or did not receive it (that part is unknown). He got an item with a special ID which turned it in to Vintage at a later date. However, he ended up selling it and then it got duped a lot. However, there is another one which is in a collectors BP which is #10006.

      Vintage Lumbricus Lid
[IMG]The Vintage Lumbricus Lid is another hat which you got from abusing the Steam Support Ticket System. People who "lost" their Lumbricus Lid through receiving the promo got granted a version with a special ID which then turned in to vintage at a later date. There is not much else to this hat other than it has been duped a lot.

      Vintage Bills Hat
[IMG]Vintage Bills Hat did not occur straight away. It happened when Bills Hats' were granted to those who lost them (legitimately or not) but with a normal ID. You might be wondering what a normal ID means. Basically it means that it is classed as a "normal" item so when the Mann Co Update hit, the item also became vintage and was not classed as a "promo". This did not mean anything until the Mann Co. Update when items became vintage. As the ID was technically an ID for a vintage item, the players got the Vintage Bills Hat. Some people knew this would happen because they had heard leaks from VALVE employees about vintage items, and how the ID's would change if you deleted your item and got re-reimbursed .

      Vintage Companion Cube Pin
[IMG]The Vintage Companion Cube Pin's were awarded to 4 people at PaX for play testing Portal 2. They were automatically tradeable and the majority of the people traded them away / got hijacked / got duped. There was a fifth given out during PaX for unknown reasons.

      Vintage Cheaters Lament
[IMG]The Vintage Cheaters Lament was given to the same person who owns the Vintage Soldier of Fortune. It was given to them when their account got hijacked and they lost all their items. Steam Support gave all the items back but they ended in Vintage quality.

      Vintage Shortstop
[IMG]The Vintage Shortstop was acquired by crafting it during the update. Only 1 was crafted (maybe duped now) and it remains in the Backpack of a collector!

      Vintage Mildly Disturbing Halloween Mask
[IMG]The Vintage Mask was acquired by a random glitch. There has not been any reason given but it is thought to have been because they got the achievement very early on in the event.

      Vintage Old Guadalajara
[IMG]The Old Guadalajara is in the Backpack of VALVE and Oculus Rift developer, Programmer Joe. His favorite hat is The Old Guadalajara so he will never trade it.

      Vintage Metal

[IMG]Vintage Refined Metal was a glitch surrounding the Mannconamy update. It was (once again) to do with Steam Support and you deleting your metal. They would reset your Backpack and (instead of duping the items) they gave you items with Special ID's. This is one of the latest occurances of Steam Support abuse as they changed their system to duping your items.
      [IMG][IMG]See Above

      Vintage Class Tokens

Vintage Class Tokens were the last known item acquired by Steam Support abuse. They got the Special ID tokens and they refreshed the BP and the tokens turned in to vintage. After this there is no Steam Support based vintage glitches.

      Vintage Lugermorpths

There are many variants of the Vintage Lugermorph. The first is the normal Luger, which you got from pre-ordering Sam and Max : The Devil's Playhouse. The second is the uncraftable one which was the poker night one which got glitched. The next one is the Community Sparkle one which was given to Telltale employees. It was accidentally made tradeable so they were asked to get rid of it via crafting or deleting. However, before some of the employees could do so they were hijacked and the Lugers were put in to circulation (majority of which were duped). The last one is the Level 50 one which was also meant for Telltale employees but ended up not having the Community Sparkle.

Vintage Mercenary or Soldier of Fortune or Grizzled Veteran or Primeval Warrior Mercenary

These items were given to those who got hijacked and lost all their items in their BP. They got all their items replaced with the special Item ID's and got them vintage at a later date.. Just to stop them being spammed I will not link their BP's as the majority of them have quit TF2 because they have been badgered so much about it.
    • In this chapter you will learn about items which are glitched in to being dirty.

      Dirty Lumbricus Lid
The Dirty Lumbricus Lid is thought to have been given to developers of Worms : Reloaded. It is not as valuable as the vintage one but still big with collectors.

      Dirty Max Head
      Speculation

      Dirty HOUWAR
      Speculation

      Dirty Earbuds
      Speculation
    • In this chapter you will learn about glitched clean items.

      1) Mann Co. Glitch, 2) Manniversery Update glitch ; When the update came out all untradeable items became tradeable and craftable, but VALVE only meant for them to become tradeable. • In this chapter you will learn about items which have been glitched and turned in to "stock" quality.
The only way you got a stock glitched item is if your original item went missing and you contacted Steam Support. Steam Support would then accidentely return it in "stock" quality, or "normal" quality. If your Ellis Cap is returned in Stock Quality then it'd be called "Normal Ellis Cap". Below is a list of items that are known to be stock glitched.

      Mann Co Supply Crate Key
Black Rose - In Scammers Backpack
      Earbuds
      Bat
      Purity Fist
      Soldiers Stash
      Ellis Cap
      Deus Specs
Masters Yellow Belt - In Scammers Backpack
      Frying Pan
      Professors Speks
      Pretty Boys Pocket Pistol

    • In this chapter you will briefly learn about Odd-Leveled Glitched Items.

Soda Popper Level 7 (Normally Level 10)
This was a glitch back when MvM was first released. You were able to get the Soda Popper in any level from 1-100 once you had finished your map.

      B.M.O.C Levels 1, 2, 17, 29, 43, 75, 82, 83, 89, 97, 99 (Normally Level 30)
This was a glitch from when you were crafting the coal during the Christmas update. Sometimes the player would get an odd-leveled B.M.O.C.

Bills Hat Level 5 (Normally Level 10)
This was a glitch from when after people tried to trick Steam Support in to getting them a Vintage Bill's Hat. Instead they got this Odd-Leveled version of the hat.

      Gentle Mannes Service Medal #11111
This medal was awarded to a player after he raised a lot of money for Child's Play. It was the last # Service Medal avaliable to players.

Mann Co. Supply Crate with no #
There is no actual proof as to how/why these crates came to have no series. The first person said that they just randomly saw it like that one day. The second person said that he was trading the crate when the trade timed out and the items were returned to original owners, excpect his crate had lost it's series. It is unknown how the third person got his crate.
Chapter 8 : Limited Time Glitched Items
In this chapter you will learn about Limited Time Glitched Items.

      Painted Lucky-Shot
This was a glitch where for a very short time you could paint the Lucky-Shot. The paint does not show up in-game.

      Painted Vita Saw
This was a glitch where for a very short time you could paint the Vita Saw. The paint does not show up in-game.

      Painted Cow Mangler
This was a glitch where for a very short time you could paint the Cow Mangler. The paint does show up in-game, the most obvious being Balaclavas are Forever.

      Painted Pencil Pusher
This was a glitch where for a very short time you could paint the Pencil Pusher. The paint does not show up in-game.

      Dirty Sun-on-a-stick
For a short amount of time you could receive this from the Mann Co Package as uncraftable. This was a glitch because the weapon was never available in the Mann Co Store.

      Dirty Volcano Fragment
For a short amount of time you could receive this from the Mann Co Package as uncraftable. This was a glitch because the weapon was never available in the Mann Co Store.

      No # Service Medal
38 Non-numbered medals were given out to VALVE employees. Some of which got hijacked and/or had them duped. They are now in circulation.
    • In this chapter you will learn about Special Cases of Glitched Items.

Person with 2 Mann Co. Caps
      [IMG]
This is a glitch where all he did was buy some items from the Mann Co. Store on 2 separate occasions and ended up getting 2 Mann Co. Caps. There is no other record of this happening to anybody.
    • In this chapter you will learned about Glitched Tool Items.

      Backpack Expander (Level 50-59) (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 uses)
These were given to VALVE employees and have multiple uses on them. Somehow some of them got in to circulation and now go for over 1 bud each. There is no record of anybody ever using one of these who isn't a VALVE employee.

Craftable Something Special For Someone Special
This was a glitch with the Mann Co. Store which only one person was able to get before it was patched. All you had to do was buy the SSFSS and you would get a craftable one. On use it gives out 2 craftable rings.
    • In this chapter you will learn about Stranges which have been glitched.

Strange Big Earner with Long Distance Kills
There is only 7 of these in existence. You were able to apply the strange part for a very short period of time. You can not get kills on the counter in any way so it's purely for collectors.
    • [WH] The Director {terabyte} - For having an awesome backpack for me to get images from.
Etcchi - Giving me updated information.
Voltey - Giving me updated information.
dpi.erico - Informing me on the No # Crates.

Baring in mind this information could be incorrect. If it is please contact me. If I have missed out an item then contact me.
